I hate it, I hate it, I hate it...

I hate doing laundry!!! Laundry is probably the most mundane task I have as a mother. I hate it (did I say that already?)! On any given day you can find piles of clean clothes all over my couch. We recently purchased a new washer and dryer after our old washer quit working. It's fun and exciting having new machines, pedistals and all the new, fun buttons but guess what? I still hate doing the laundry! I do okay washing it, but after that I start slipping, I hate to fold it all, and even more I hate to put all the piles away. My older girls are pretty good at putting away their laundry but it's all the other laundry that overwhelms me. It takes me days to get it folded and put away, and then it's time to start all over and wash it again. I guess it's so mundane because it's never done, as soon as one hamper is empty, another is filling up. Do you do laundry on certain days, or everyday? Do you wash, fold, and put away after every load? I need some serious advice and inspiration. Tell me what works for you and how I can get out of the laundry black hole.

Look at those beauties!!! What a pair! Can I say that???

Well, you know me...I almost didn't comment because I got nothing! Laundry is also like the dishes for me...I hate them both and it never ends! Thankfully, I enjoy showering, because that too, is something that must be done daily!

Laundry sucks. If ever there was something that made me want to take up alcoholism...

Mondays for dark clothes, Tuesdays for light clothes and Thursdays for whites. Linens as they randomly come in. I usually do the sheets in the girls room one day and the boys room another. I make myself fold what I washed that day so that I am not in a deficet (did spell that right?) the next day. Whoever is my weekly laundry helper puts the folded clothes away during chore time. I spread it out so I don't get overwhelmed!

I could never do laundry on a schedule. I just do it as it comes. I actually enjoy the folding and putting away. What I don't enjoy is walking out to the garage in the winter. Be glad yours are inside! Troy does his own and that helps some. I just pick away at it little by little.

I do a load, sometimes two, just about every day. I either throw it in the wash right before going to bed then dry it in the morning or do it first thing in the morning. I have no problem throwing all the clothes in together, colors with whites. Most of our clothes are old enough they don't bleed. If I am worried about it I use a Color Catcher, which are awesome! I have better things to do that stress out over sorting into perfect piles, waiting until I have enough in a pile to justify washing it, then spending the entire day folding and putting away. BTW I LOVE your new washer and dryer...so jealous! :)

Love them! SO PRETTY! Okay, well, you know me and my OCD...I do laundry every other day and I wash, dry and fold each load as it is done! You need to have 1 huge closet that you can just put all the folded clothes into and the whole fam can pick out clothes from the FAMILY CLOSET! Love ya!

We got new machines when we moved into our new house. I too, thought I'd maybe enjoy laundry a little bit more because of the new fancy machines. But nope, I, like you, still hate laundry. And I totally agree with you. I don't mind the throwing the clothes in there and switching to the dryer, I do hate, with all my heart, putting the clothes away. Here it's just the three of us, or 2 and half. I can't imagine doing laundry for 6 people...

Hi Laura, I found your blog off of Teri's blog.

I too hate the laundry and dishes. I wish I could just get a break from them but then when I give myself a break I come back to an even bigger stack to do.

What works for me, when I commit to doing it, is that I do not just dump what's in the dryer into a basket or on my bed, I fold it right then. Otherwise I get too overwhelmed with the clean clothes piling up. On average I do 2-3 loads a day because if I don't the stack gets too big to be contained in the laundry room. I think having the older ones help with putting their own away is great. I have also been asking my 6 and 7 yr olds to help fold. They do a pretty good job.

It's all part of the gig as my dad would say. At least now you have a good set to use!
